Russian Strikes Pummel Ukraine Cities; General Grunis Reported Dead

Overnight Russian missile and drone attacks have once again targeted multiple Ukrainian cities, causing significant damage and injuries. Kyiv and the port city of Odesa bore the brunt of these strikes, leaving at least 18 people injured, including children.

Authorities in Odesa reported that three people, including a child, were hurt when Russia hit a 19-storey apartment building.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that civilian infrastructure was targeted in eight regions, with energy facilities in Sumy and Odesa regions specifically hit. "Once again, civilian infrastructure was targeted, with damage reported in eight regions," Zelensky stated, emphasizing the continuous assault on residential areas and critical services.

Amidst these attacks, Ukraine's drone forces have claimed a major victory, announcing the death of Russian Major General Anton Grunis. Grunis, who had recently been decorated as a "war hero" by Vladimir Putin, was reportedly killed in a nighttime strike in the Donetsk region.

Ukrainian drone commander Robert Brovdi shared the news, stating Grunis was "eliminated on 12 September." While a Russian commander, Apti Alaudinov, confirmed Grunis's death in Moscow, official Russian channels provided no further details.

In response to the ongoing aggression, President Zelensky has lauded the passing of the Lindsay Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act by the US House of Representatives. He described the bill as an "extremely powerful tool" essential for stopping the "terrorist war" and compelling Russia to seek peace.

Zelensky expressed gratitude to US lawmakers, stressing the importance of strong sanctions to support diplomatic efforts and bring an end to the conflict.
