Harry Styles is currently lighting up New York City's Madison Square Garden with his epic 30-night residency, part of his 'Together, Together' tour. The 'Adore You' singer, known for his charismatic stage presence, brought a dose of humor to his latest show, playfully referencing his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.
During his performance last night (August 29), Styles paused to acknowledge the iconic venue, quipping,
We're at Madison Square Garden, home of the world champion New York Knicks! And they also do weddings.
This witty remark was a nod to a playful jab or rumored event that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce had a star-studded 'wedding' ceremony at the very same venue back in July.
Styles and Swift briefly dated between 2012 and 2013, a relationship that is believed to have inspired some of Swift's tracks like 'Out of the Woods' and 'Style' from her '1989' album, as well as potentially Styles' own song 'Two Ghosts.' Despite their past, Styles has always spoken respectfully of Swift, even calling her a "great songwriter" in 2020 when asked about being the subject of her music, adding, “Even if the song isn't that flattering, you still spend time on it, and ultimately, using Taylor as an example, she's a great songwriter.” The Madison Square Garden shows are a highlight of Styles' massive 'Together, Together' tour, which has already seen him perform a record-breaking 12 shows at London's Wembley Stadium, alongside stops in Amsterdam, São Paulo, and Mexico City.
His opening night at MSG also included a heartfelt tribute to Dolly Parton, setting the tone for what promises to be a memorable series of concerts.
