Andhra Tragedy: 7 Lives Lost in Bus-Auto Crash; CM Naidu Directs Aid

A horrific collision between a private bus and an auto-rickshaw in Andhra Pradesh's Palnadu district has claimed seven lives and left six others injured. The tragic incident occurred near Chilakaluripet, specifically at Kala Mandir Junction, when a private bus heading towards Tirupati collided with an auto-rickshaw that reportedly veered onto the wrong side of the road.

According to Narasaraopet DSP, the bus was traveling at approximately 40 kmph when the auto-rickshaw entered its path. Four individuals died instantly at the scene, while three others succumbed to their injuries after being rushed to the hospital.

All seven deceased were identified as residents of Veluru village in Chilakaluripet mandal.

Reports suggest they were returning home after attending a celebration in Kondamanjuluru. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed profound grief over the loss of lives and directed officials to ensure the best possible medical treatment for the injured, who have been shifted to Guntur General Hospital.

He also emphasized the importance of continuously monitoring their health condition.

YSRCP chief and former Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy also conveyed his heartfelt condolences, describing the incident as "heartbreaking." He noted that the fact all victims belonged to the same village made the tragedy even more painful.

Reddy urged authorities to provide immediate and comprehensive medical care to those injured and called for a thorough inquiry into the accident's cause, advocating for stronger road safety measures to prevent such devastating incidents in the future. Authorities have registered a case regarding causing death by rash or negligent driving, and investigations are currently underway to ascertain all contributing factors to this unfortunate event.
