Political Firestorm: Ex-Minister Slams Kharge Over RSS Queries!
Karnataka's political scene heats up! Former minister K.S. Eshwarappa sharply criticizes Home Minister Priyank Kharge for questioning the RSS. Dive into the full story and the heated debate on transparency and publicity!
A political war of words has erupted in Karnataka, with former minister K.S. Eshwarappa strongly criticising Home Minister Priyank Kharge over his inquiries into the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
Eshwarappa, speaking on June 17, accused Kharge of targeting the RSS purely for publicity after the minister wrote a letter to RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat. Eshwarappa questioned Kharge's authority to raise such issues, asking, “Who is he to question the RSS? Has he contributed even a rupee to the sangha?” He challenged Kharge, asserting that if the Home Minister truly had a legal basis, he should “act as per law” rather than just raising questions.
Further fueling the controversy, Eshwarappa alleged that Kharge's repeated references to the RSS in public speeches across Bengaluru, Kalaburagi, and even Delhi were a deliberate ploy for attention. “He knows that if he takes the legal route, he can’t succeed. Hence, he is talking about the sangha through the media,” Eshwarappa claimed. He went as far as to dismiss Kharge as “kasa” (garbage) and stated that Mohan Bhagwat should not have responded to his letter.
Defending the RSS, Eshwarappa highlighted that numerous trusts and organizations operate under its banner, all duly registered and responsive to authorities. He added that the RSS responds to legitimate queries from authorized agencies. The former minister also staunchly defended the security provided to Mohan Bhagwat, emphasizing the global reach of the organization and the threats faced by its head. “Mr. Bhagwat is the head of an organisation that has its members across the globe. There are terrorist activities. His life is important for the country. There is a threat to his life. If not for him, who else deserves security?” he argued.
Meanwhile, Priyank Kharge has defended his stance, reiterating his call for legal oversight of the RSS. He argues that transparency is crucial, especially given the organization's significant political influence, despite the strong backlash from BJP leaders like Eshwarappa.
