Michel Nkuka Mboladinga, famously known as "Lumumba Vea," has finally made his much-anticipated debut at the FIFA World Cup 2026. The dedicated DR Congo fan, who became a social media sensation for impersonating a living statue of his nation's assassinated independence leader Patrice Lumumba, attended DR Congo's thrilling match against Colombia.
Mboladinga's journey to the World Cup wasn't straightforward. He missed DR Congo's opening game against Portugal due to unforeseen Ebola quarantine requirements. Earlier this year, he also couldn't attend a World Cup playoff match against Jamaica, where DR Congo secured their return to the tournament after a 52-year absence, because of visa issues despite extensive travel to Kenya and Ethiopia to secure one.
