Pakistan Vows "Unconditional" Defense of Saudi Arabia Amid Houthi Threats

Pakistan has declared its "unconditional" commitment to defending Saudi Arabia, with a top Army general asserting that Islamabad is prepared to go to "any extent," including physically, to ensure the Gulf Kingdom's security. This strong statement comes amidst escalating tensions involving Saudi Arabia and Yemen's Houthis, who have carried out recent attacks on Saudi territory and established control over the strategic Bab el-Mandeb Strait in the Red Sea.

Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, the Pakistan Army spokesperson, conveyed this resolute stance in an interview, underscoring the deep-rooted historical ties between the two nations. He highlighted that Pakistan "fully stands with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, both diplomatically and physically," stressing the word "physically" to leave no doubt about the extent of their commitment.

The remarks follow the signing of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement last month between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkiye. This pact stipulates that an armed attack on any of the three signatory countries would be considered an attack on all, solidifying a collective security framework. Gen.
