Adani Green Block Deal Draws Big Bets From Institutional Buyers
TotalEnergies offloads 2.86 crore Adani Green shares in a Rs 2,778 crore block, snagging institutional interest and signaling steady growth amid volatility.
Adani Green Energy staged a Rs 2,778 crore block deal on Wednesday as TotalEnergies Renewables sold about 2.86 crore shares, with the entire block snapped up by a mix of institutional buyers, mutual funds, family offices and high-net-worth investors.
The biggest buyers included Quant Mutual Fund purchasing 1.23 crore shares, BNP Paribas Financial Markets with 15.49 lakh shares, Vanguard Emerging Markets Index Fund with 10.18 lakh shares, and Edelweiss Mutual Fund with 10.30 lakh shares. Other participants included Amity Holdings, Cohesion MK Best Ideas Sub-Trust, Four Dimensions Securities, GeeCee Ventures, Authum Investment & Infrastructure, and several prominent family offices.
The deal underscores continued institutional interest in Adani Green despite volatile performance this year. For TotalEnergies, the sale forms part of its portfolio rebalancing in the renewables space, while the French energy major remains a long-term strategic partner of the Adani Group across various green energy ventures.
From a market standpoint, the stock has been volatile. It is down about 17.85% over the past 12 months and around 4.5% year-to-date, with a modest rebound of roughly 5.93% over the past three months before recent fluctuations. Analysts say the long-term growth runway for Adani Green remains strong, supported by its position in one of India’s largest renewable portfolios across solar, wind and hybrid projects, even as near-term sentiment is influenced by broader market weakness and valuations in renewables.
