Private Plane Makes Emergency Landing Near Rourkela, 6 Injured
A nine-seater Cessna Grand Caravan operated by IndiaOneAir forced-lands near Kansor, Odisha, after a technical glitch; six people injured and a probe is underway.
A private small aircraft declared Mayday and performed an emergency belly landing after a technical fault, about 15-20 km short of Rourkela.
The flight, on a Bhubaneswar-Rourkela route under the UDAN scheme, is a nine-seater Cessna Grand Caravan and landed in an open grassy area near Kansor in the Raghunathpali area around 1:20 PM. All aboard reportedly safe.
The airline said there were four passengers and two crew on board; six people were injured. Some reports also mentioned the pilot sustained serious injuries and was rushed to hospital.
Investigators will launch a probe into the incident. UDAN aims to expand air connectivity to tier-2 and tier-3 cities, and this event will be reviewed as part of safety checks on such routes.
