CBI Takes Over Twisha Sharma Death Case Amid Dowry Allegations

The investigation into the tragic death of actor-model Twisha Sharma has taken a major turn as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officially takes over the case. This move comes after growing demands from her family and allegations of institutional bias in the initial state-level probe. Twisha, a 32-year-old actor, was found dead in her home on May 12, an incident that has since sparked national attention.
A specialized team from the CBI arrived from New Delhi and immediately began their work at the scene. They visited the residence where Twisha was found and questioned her mother-in-law, Giribala Singh, who is a retired district judge. The agency has re-registered the FIR, which includes serious charges related to dowry death and harassment. Shocking details from the investigation suggest that Twisha may have been denied money for even her most basic personal needs and faced demands for a ₹2 lakh dowry.
The local police in Bhopal had been handling the case through a Special Investigation Team (SIT), but the family expressed deep concerns over the investigation's integrity. They alleged that the influence of the mother-in-law’s former judicial position was causing procedural lapses. In response to these claims, Madhya Pradesh DGP Kailash Makwana defended the local police's work, stating they followed all established rules. However, he noted that the state recommended the CBI take over to satisfy the family's request for an independent probe.
As the CBI digs deeper, Twisha’s husband, Samarth Singh, remains in police custody. Meanwhile, the family has traveled to Rishikesh to perform the final rites and immerse her ashes in the Ganga. With a second autopsy report from AIIMS Delhi expected soon, many are hoping the CBI’s involvement will finally bring clarity and justice to this high-profile case.
