An explosion at a private steel plant in Ramgarh, Jharkhand, on Sunday has left at least nine workers injured. The incident, which occurred in a furnace chamber, resulted in hot metal splashing onto the workers, causing burn injuries. Two of the injured are reported to be in critical condition and have been transferred to a private hospital in Ranchi for advanced medical care. The remaining seven workers are receiving treatment at a local hospital in Ramgarh.
The blast took place at Murpa village, falling under the Kuju outpost limits, in the afternoon. Following the incident, Chief Factory Inspector Manish Sinha immediately ordered an inquiry. The factory inspector in Hazaribag has been directed to thoroughly investigate the circumstances leading to the explosion and submit a detailed report as soon as possible.
Ramgarh labour superintendent Anil Ranjan also stated that department officials will visit the plant to review existing labor safety protocols and ensure such incidents are prevented in the future. The injured workers have been identified from various districts, including Kunjilal Ravidas, Parmeshwar Kumar Mahto, Ramesh Thakur, Rajendra Mahto, and Sanjay Prasad from Ramgarh; Rajendra Mahto and Ritesh Rana from Hazaribag; Dhananjay Singh from Patna; and Vijay Yadav from Darbhanga in Bihar. The community is hoping for a swift recovery for all affected workers and a rigorous investigation into the cause of this industrial accident.
