Mahindra rolls out the XEV 9S, a 7-seater electric SUV on the INGLO platform, with pricing starting at ₹19.95 lakh and bookings in January 2026.
Mahindra has unveiled the XEV 9S, a three-row, seven-seat electric SUV built on the INGLO platform, with introductory prices starting at Rs 19.95 lakh (ex-showroom) for the entry-level Pack One Above. The XEV 9S is touted as India's first dedicated seven-seat mass-market electric SUV developed from the ground up on INGLO architecture, and it undercuts the XEV 9e at the entry price by about Rs 1.95 lakh.
It comes with three battery pack options — 59 kWh, 70 kWh, and 79 kWh. The 59 kWh pack is rated for up to 170 kW peak power, the 70 kWh for 180 kW, and the 79 kWh belt packs up to 210 kW, showcasing Mahindra's push to deliver performance alongside practicality.
Bookings for the XEV 9S are scheduled to open on January 14, 2026, with deliveries slated to begin January 23, 2026. The company aims to capture a larger share of the electric vehicle market, staking a claim on a 20-30% market share target by 2027.
Market watchers have reacted to the launch with optimism after Nomura gave the new model a Buy rating and a Rs 4,335 price target, a move that helped lift Mahindra shares about 2% on the day. The new SUV is seen as a catalyst for Mahindra's electric era, especially in a price-sensitive segment of the Indian market.
Overall, the XEV 9S signals Mahindra's intensified push into electric mobility, expanding its INGLO-based lineup and competing in a space that is rapidly expanding as more families look for practical, capable EVs.
