A horrifying incident unfolded on a national highway in Tumakuru district, Karnataka, on Saturday, where a 30-year-old man, Nagendra, was tragically charred to death inside a burning car. The incident saw the car engulfed in flames following a suspected explosion.
Miraculously, a woman identified as Ramya, who Nagendra had allegedly abducted, managed to escape the fiery wreckage along with the car driver. Police reports indicate that before the explosion, Nagendra had attacked Ramya with a knife, striking her on the head. Despite her injuries, she bravely managed to exit the vehicle. The driver, in an attempt to help Ramya, also jumped out just as the explosion occurred inside the car, causing it to rapidly catch fire.
Authorities suspect the explosion was caused by Nagendra himself, possibly using a country bomb or a Molotov cocktail. While forensic reports are pending, preliminary investigations suggest the tragic event might stem from a relationship dispute. One report indicated that Nagendra had threatened, "Let's die together," after Ramya reportedly refused to marry him.
The sequence of events began earlier when Nagendra allegedly forced Ramya into a car he had booked from Siddapura, near Jayanagar in Bengaluru. The incident took place near Kallambella in Sira Taluk, Tumakuru district, as they were approaching the local police station in the afternoon.
District Superintendent of Police, Ashok K V, confirmed that police rushed to the scene after receiving reports of a vehicle on fire on NH-48. They found Ramya and the driver outside the inferno, who informed them about an explosion and a body inside. The incident is currently under thorough investigation, with police piecing together the details of the abduction, the attack, and the explosive device used.
