Cyberabad's Women and Children Safety Wing reports rising street prostitution, arrests, and rescues in 2025, with emphasis on education and prevention.
In 2025, the Cyberabad commissionerate’s Women and Children Safety Wing doubled down on enforcement, rescue operations, and counselling, targeting street prostitution and anti-human trafficking. The drive also emphasised awareness in educational institutions and workplaces to curb involvement.
Key numbers show the scale: 121 cases of street prostitution were registered, resulting in 508 arrests — including 262 sex workers and 246 transgender individuals. Another 356 people were bound over, and 24 sex workers were jailed under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita section for obscene acts and under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act. The counselling push aims to deter repeat involvement and steer people toward education and safer alternatives.
Meanwhile, the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit registered 103 cases under the Immoral Traffic Prevention Act, with 257 accused arrested and 195 victims rescued. The operation also led to deportation of 10 foreign nationals linked to trafficking, including five from Tanzania and others from Uganda, Kenya, South Africa and Bangladesh, in coordination with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office.
She Teams logged 83 cases and conducted thousands of petty-case registrations as part of broader crime-control efforts. Officials note a rising trend of young women getting involved, often while pursuing college education, and stress the need for widespread awareness campaigns across campuses and workplaces. The aim is to prevent exploitation and provide pathways to safety and education.
With these measures, authorities say they are building a safer environment for women and children, while reinforcing legal action against traffickers and buyers, and offering support to survivors.
