RIL Q3: Profit Flat at 1.6%, Jio and Retail Drive Revenue
Reliance Industries posts flat quarterly profit while revenue grows, buoyed by Jio Platforms and Reliance Retail as margin gains in oil-to-chemicals boost results.
Reliance Industries posted a largely stable Q3, with profit growth effectively flat at 1.6% year-on-year as the group’s revenue rose about 10%. The quarter highlighted the company’s diversified model, with its digital arm Jio Platforms delivering an 11.2% jump in net profit to Rs 7,629 crore and a 12.7% rise in revenue to Rs 43,683 crore. Reliance Retail Ventures also showed positive momentum, with net profit climbing 2.7% to Rs 3,551 crore and revenue increasing 8.1% to Rs 97,605 crore. In the oil-to-chemicals (O2C) segment, overall EBITDA growth remained robust, rising around 16.4%, even as upstream EBITDA faced pressure from lower volumes and prices. The company noted it maximised refinery utilisation to capture high margins and benefited from agile crude sourcing, even as US/EU sanctions on Russian refiners tightened fuel markets.
Chairman and managing director Mukesh Ambani underscored that Jio’s digital ecosystem is “deepening its roots” in Indian households, with connectivity and media platforms driving higher customer engagement. He attributed the graph of EBITDA growth to the O2C segment while pointing to continued strength in cash flows and balance sheet strength, which international rating agencies have recognized.
The quarterly performance comes as energy markets remained volatile on global issues, with the company highlighting the impact of sanctions dynamics on fuel markets and supply chains. Analysts will be watching how Reliance Retail copes with competitive pressure and whether digital services and bundled offerings can sustain momentum into the next quarter.
Market watchers are also tracking chatter around a potential Jio IPO and a substantial capex push across O2C, retail, telecom, and new-energy ventures, though no timeline has been confirmed. In the near term, investors will weigh whether the diversified stack can translate robust operating cash flows into stronger profits as headwinds from crude prices and regulatory changes unfold. Overall, the quarter reaffirms Reliance’s resilience in a challenging environment, with cash generation and a broad platform strategy remaining core to its outlook.
