Gilgo Beach Killer Pleads Guilty to 8 Murders, Families Gain Closure
Rex Heuermann admitted to eight killings, securing life sentences with no parole as grieving families finally hear justice and authorities close a decades-long case.
Heuermann agreed to multiple life sentences with no possibility of parole and gave up his right to appeal in exchange for no further prosecution for the eight victims. He will also be interviewed by the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit as part of the deal. Sentencing is scheduled for June 17. The district attorney, speaking at the court, said the focus of the case has always been the victims, and the families who’ve waited years for answers deserve to have their stories told. Attorneys for several families, including Gloria Allred, highlighted the bravery of those relatives in pursuing justice and accountability.
