Amit Shah Unveils Syama Prasad Mookerjee's 125-Foot Statue in Kolkata! 🇮🇳

Union Home Minister Amit Shah was in Kolkata on Monday to lay the foundation stone for a towering 125-foot statue of Bharatiya Jana Sangh's founder, Syama Prasad Mookerjee. This significant event coincided with Mookerjee's 125th birth anniversary, a day marked by high praise for his contributions to nation-building.

The ceremony, which included a 'bhoomi pujan,' took place in New Town, Kolkata. West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari was present alongside Mr. Shah. Later, the Home Minister also paid respects at Mookerjee's birthplace in south Kolkata.

During an event, Mr. Shah highlighted the importance of the occasion, stating, "Today, on the occasion of his 125th birth anniversary, the foundation stone for his 125-foot-tall statue was laid in West Bengal, a tribute to his enduring legacy." He expressed satisfaction that this milestone occurred while a BJP government is in power in West Bengal, drawing a connection to the party's fulfillment of promises.

Mr. Shah also touched upon the abrogation of Article 370, asserting that Prime Minister Modi had fulfilled his pledge, making Kashmir an integral part of India. He lauded the Suvendu Adhikari government for swiftly implementing BJP's promises, such as the Annapurna Yojana, land allocation for the BSF, and free bus travel for women. "We are fulfilling the promises we made in our Sankalp Patra during the Bengal elections," he affirmed.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined the commemoration via a video message, describing Syama Prasad Mookerjee as a visionary, patriot, and a champion of national unity. "Today, the nation and West Bengal are remembering a great son of the soil, a great patriot who was dedicated to the integrity of India," PM Modi stated. He further connected Mookerjee's political struggles to several key BJP policies, including the revocation of Article 370, emphasizing his foundational role in the party's ideology.
