Delhi blast probe: Pulwama electrician among arrests in white-collar module
A new arrest widens the crackdown on the white-collar terror module tied to the Delhi Red Fort blast, with investigators linking a Pulwama electrician to planning and uncovering a wider network.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police’s state investigation agency detained Tufail Niyaz Bhat, a Pulwama electrician, as part of the ongoing probe into the 'white collar' terror module linked to Delhi’s Red Fort blast that killed ten. He was taken for questioning as officers tighten the probe. A local CID official told us there is concrete evidence suggesting his involvement in planning the attack. The module began coming into focus after Srinagar police opened a poster-only trail in Nowgam mid-October, which led investigators to three suspects—Arif Nisar Dar alias Sahil, Yasir ul Ashraf and Maqsood Ahmad Dar alias Shahid—which, in turn, helped seize leads. After questioning, Maulvi Irfan Ahmad, a former paramedic who became an Imam, was arrested for allegedly providing posters and influencing doctors. The trail then pointed investigators toward Al Falah University in Faridabad, where Dr Muzzafar Ganaie and Dr Shaheen Sayeed were arrested and 2,900 kg of explosive material was recovered. Authorities believe a core group of three doctors—Ganaie, Umar Nabi (the driver of the car packed with explosives that exploded near the Red Fort), and Muzzaffar Rather (still at large)—were behind the module. The National Investigation Agency has 10-day custody of four arrested accused as the probe widens to hospitals, media offices, and other potential links.
