Leaders at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 outline a shift from flashy demos to industrial-scale AI, stressing governance, resilience, and responsible growth for India and the world.
At the India AI Impact Summit 2026, leaders stressed that AI's future lies in industrial-scale deployment rather than flashy demos. Martin Schroeter, Chairman and CEO of Kyndryl, noted that while global firms pour billions into AI, many projects fail to deliver real returns; in India, 75% stall after proof of concept. The bottleneck, he said, is readiness, not innovation. The discussion highlighted mission-critical realities: deploying agentic AI across fragmented data, hybrid clouds, edge environments and legacy systems, while meeting strict sectoral regulations and ensuring 24/7 resilience against cyberattacks, data drift, and outages. Trust is essential, as AI decisions influence lives and essential services in hospitals, banks, airports, and energy grids. India is positioned as the world’s premier proving ground for these technologies.
Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision, Digital India, India AI Mission, and digital public infrastructure enable responsible, inclusive scaling. Examples highlighted include the Unified Lending Interface slashing loan times dramatically and Kyndryl's work at Bengaluru Airport, where agentic AI enables proactive, self-healing operations. The path forward emphasizes building robust infrastructure, governance embedded in policy as code, explainability, and workforce reskilling. Nine in ten leaders foresee AI reshaping work, yet fewer than one in three feel their teams are fully ready. The real impact will arrive when AI moves from labs to reliable, governed systems that strengthen society, people, planet, and progress. India is leading the way.
Dario Amodei of Anthropic underscored India’s central role in shaping both opportunities and risks of AI, announcing Anthropic’s new Bengaluru office and partnerships with Indian enterprises, including Infosys. He called for shared policymaking to ensure AI-driven growth benefits all, while addressing safety concerns and job disruption. Modi’s MANAV vision—Moral and Ethical Systems, Accountable Governance, National Sovereignty over data, Accessible and Inclusive technology, and Valid and Legitimate AI—was positioned as a guiding framework for a human-centric, inclusive AI future. The summit also highlighted that India can set standards for the global South in areas like education, digital infrastructure, and regional languages, while encouraging international cooperation to manage risks and maximize opportunity.
