Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is set to hold high-stakes discussions with UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Downing Street. The critical meeting, scheduled for Sunday, aims to solidify ongoing support for Ukraine amidst the continuing conflict with Russia.

This diplomatic gathering follows a significant development: a large-scale Ukrainian drone attack on St. Petersburg, Russia's second-largest city, on Saturday. The strike underscores Kyiv’s increasing capability to reach deep inside Russian territory, though no casualties were immediately reported. Meanwhile, the conflict continues to claim lives on Ukrainian soil, with one person killed and three wounded in the Dnipropetrovsk region overnight into Saturday due to nearly 30 Russian drone and artillery strikes.

The talks come after Russian President Vladimir Putin outright rejected Zelensky’s recent proposal for face-to-face negotiations to end the four-year-old war, stating he saw "no point" in such a meeting. The "E3" group of nations – comprising the UK, France, and Germany – are recognized as some of Ukraine's strongest allies. Both the UK and France are leading the "coalition of the willing" initiative, which seeks to provide crucial security guarantees for Ukraine as part of a broader peace process.
