Telangana CM Orders Swift Help After Saudi Umrah Bus Tragedy
Telangana CM directs top officials to coordinate with the Indian Embassy as families seek updates and aid after the Saudi Umrah bus crash.
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy expressed deep shock over the Saudi bus crash that involved Indian pilgrims, including several from Hyderabad. He directed the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police to obtain complete information on the incident, confirm how many Telangana residents were affected, and coordinate immediately with the Union External Affairs Ministry and the Saudi Embassy. The CM ordered that all necessary assistance be provided without delay.
Following the CM’s directions, officials launched a rapid response, with the Chief Secretary notifying the Resident Commissioner in Delhi to gather and share full details on Telangana pilgrims. A control room was set up at the Secretariat to assist families, with dedicated helpline numbers 79979 59754 and 99129 19545.
Senior officials are coordinating with the Indian missions in Saudi Arabia, including calls with the Consulate General in Jeddah and officials in Riyadh. A parallel control room was also established at Telangana Bhavan in New Delhi, with the team in New Delhi working to confirm whether any Telangana pilgrims were involved and to provide updates as they come. Early reports indicated dozens of Indian pilgrims might have died or been injured in the Mecca-to-Medina bus route, with numbers around the 40s.
Officials named Vandhana, CH. Chakravarthi, Rakshith Nail, and others as points of contact at the Resident Commissioner’s office and Telangana Bhavan who are liaising with families and the embassy to ensure relief assistance and timely information.

The government reaffirmed its commitment to provide all possible support to Indian pilgrims and their families during this difficult time.
