101-Year-Old M&S Superfan's Dream Come True: VIP Return to Beloved Store!

A 101-year-old Marks & Spencer devotee, Frances Blair, recently fulfilled a long-held wish by returning to her favourite department store in Aberdeen after four years. Frances, a devoted M&S shopper, had been living at the Tor-Na-Dee care home in Milltimber and expressed her deep desire to revisit the retailer where she once spent hours browsing.

The care home staff, upon learning of Frances's wish, swung into action through Care UK's 'Wishing Tree' initiative. This program encourages residents to voice desires, from new hobbies to revisiting special places. Although her usual St Nicholas Street branch had closed, a special trip was organised for Frances, accompanied by her daughter Pat and fellow residents Katherine Clark and May Bremner, to the Union Square branch in Aberdeen.

Their arrival was nothing short of a celebrity welcome, complete with flowers and alcohol-free fizz.

The group then enjoyed a luxurious pamper session in the beauty department, receiving hand massages and facials, before immersing themselves in the latest clothing and jewellery collections. Before departing, store manager Grace Barnett presented them with goodie bags filled with treats like shortbread, sweets, and skincare products.

Frances shared her delight, stating,

I enjoyed the cafe and being shown around the different departments. I loved the pampering; it made me feel special and like a VIP.

Sue Jones-Wood, home manager at Tor-Na-Dee, highlighted the significance of the visit: "We were delighted to create such a memorable day for Frances and her guests... The visit enabled her to reconnect with something so special and to reminisce about cherished memories."
