PM Modi Urges Team India in West Asia Crisis: CMs Rally for Energy Security

In Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting with chief ministers and union territory administrators to review preparations for ensuring gas, fuel and other essentials amid the ongoing West Asia conflict. He stressed that tackling the challenges requires robust coordination at all levels and a shared sense of responsibility, saying that Team India must work together to weather the disruption. The prime minister highlighted the need for special attention to states along border areas and coastal regions to address emerging challenges related to shipping, essential supplies and maritime operations. He also cautioned against rumours and misinformation, urging the rapid dissemination of accurate information to keep the public well informed.
Officials said the chief ministers appreciated the steps taken by the central government under his leadership and welcomed decisions including the reduction of excise duty on fuel amid global uncertainties and the greater allocation of commercial LPG to states. The meeting was convened to reiterate a collaborative effort between the union government and state governments to meet the challenges arising from the crisis and to ensure resilience of energy and supply chains. The PM’s virtual address to the group emphasized that addressing such challenges is a collective effort, with Team India at the forefront of maintaining economic and supply stability.
As the country braces for potential long disruptions in supply lines, the discussion also touched on the importance of safeguarding border and coastal corridors and keeping essential services running smoothly. The session followed the prime minister’s parliamentary remarks and sought to align the central and state machinery for a quick, well-coordinated response to the evolving situation.
