Thinking of buying a new car or bike in Telangana? A new dealer-point registration system now lets you permanently register vehicles directly at authorized showrooms, eliminating a trip to the RTA office. The first run took place at a showroom on Friday, January 23, with a four-wheeler registered and delivered to a customer as part of the rollout.
Under the new arrangement, authorized dealers will apply online for permanent registration and upload required documents, including the invoice, Forms 21 and 22, insurance details, address proof, and vehicle photos. The facility currently covers cars and two-wheelers only and does not extend to commercial or transport vehicles. It also applies only to vehicles bought on or before January 24. To ensure proper implementation, random inspections may be conducted at showrooms by officials across Telangana’s 33 districts.
This policy was greenlit after a 15-day window was set by Telangana Transport Commissioner K Ilambarithi to develop the necessary software, with the aim of simplifying the process and reducing the need for showroom-to-RTA visits. The move reflects a broader push toward digitization and customer convenience in vehicle registration, leveraging dealer networks to streamline administrative steps while maintaining accountability through online submissions and audits.
If the system proves efficient, buyers could experience quicker confirmations of permanent registration, better record accuracy, and less time spent navigating multiple offices. Officials emphasize that the policy is an initial step, with ongoing monitoring to ensure compliance and to iron out any teething problems as the state-wide rollout progresses.
