Director Sanoj Mishra Arrested for Rape After Offering Role to Viral ‘Monalisa’
Sanoj Mishra, director who offered a film to viral girl Monalisa, arrested for alleged rape of aspiring actress. The case has drawn significant media attention and raises pressing questions.
Director Sanoj Mishra, who offered a film to viral girl Monalisa at Maha Kumbh Mela, has been arrested in a rape case on Monday. The arrest happened after the Delhi High Court rejected his bail. It alleges he raped a small-town girl wanting to become a heroine, that, too, several times. The arrest was made by the Nabi Karim police.
Accused of Rape After Giving Intoxicants
According to her statement, the girl came into contact with Sanoj Mishra through TikTok and Instagram in 2020 when she was in Jhansi. They were talking for a while when the director called her on June 17, 2021, and said he had come to Jhansi railway station. Since the victim didn't want to meet him because she felt socially pressurized, the accused, Sanoj Mishra, said he would commit suicide. Because of this, the victim visited him due to fear. The next day, June 18, 2021, the accused called again with threats of suicide and called her to the railway station.
Tricked with Film Job Promises and Exploited
The next day, the suspect brought her to a resort where he apparently raped her after giving her drugs. Victims recounted in the FIR that the suspect recorded objectionable pictures and videos of her and threatened her that if she protested, he would publicly release the evidence. After this, he drew her several messages over the phone, telling her that he was going to marry her, and there he had intimate relations with her, besides enticing her with an acting career.
From Viral Sensation to Film Offer
Monalisa Bhonsle, a young flower seller from Maheshwar, gained widespread recognition during the Prayagraj Maha Kumbh in early 2025. Her captivating features and demeanor caught the attention of social media users and filmmaker Sanoj Mishra, who subsequently offered her a role in his upcoming film, "The Diary of West Bengal." This opportunity was poised to transform her life, marking a significant shift from her humble beginnings. Twitter has been flooded with this viral news, and people are asking for justice.
Protecting Aspiring Actors from Exploitation
Sanoj Mishra’s case highlights how people trying to enter the film industry can be easily taken advantage of. Many dream of making it big in movies, but some face risks like false promises and exploitation.
As the legal case moves forward, it may push the film industry and authorities to take stronger action against such abuses. It could also encourage aspiring actors to be more cautious and aware of the dangers. If stricter rules and protections are put in place, it may help prevent similar cases in the future and create a safer environment for newcomers in the entertainment world.
