The decision comes as the BBC grapples with “significant financial pressures,” forcing them to make tough choices about their programming.
Fans need not worry about missing out entirely, though.
The current eighth series of RuPaul's Drag Race UK is still airing as planned on BBC iPlayer and BBC Three.
However, all future series, including the popular international spin-off RuPaul's Drag Race UK vs The World, will find their new home exclusively on WOW Presents Plus.
This shift marks a significant change for the franchise, which has garnered a massive following since its UK debut.
A BBC spokesperson confirmed the move, stating,
As the BBC continues to navigate significant financial pressures and deliver the savings required of us, we have had to make some very difficult choices, none of which have been taken lightly.
They added that the BBC is "incredibly proud of all eleven series of this ground-breaking show" and expressed gratitude to RuPaul, World of Wonder, and everyone involved. The statement concluded by assuring viewers they would enjoy the ongoing eighth series.
The show, known for its fierce competition, runway looks, and iconic catchphrases, features RuPaul at the helm of the judging panel, alongside regular judges Michelle Visage, Graham Norton, and Alan Carr. Its move highlights the growing trend of content shifting to dedicated streaming services, especially as traditional broadcasters face evolving financial landscapes.
