Zelenskyy: Russian Drones Struck Moldova Twice During My Transit!

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has revealed a startling detail from his recent international travels: Russian drones attacked Moldovan airspace twice while he was in transit through the country. Speaking in an interview broadcast on Tuesday (September 15, 2026), Zelenskyy told the U.S. television network CBS that he was at Chisinau airport, Ukraine's western border, on his way to and from a trip abroad when these unsettling incidents occurred.

The first incident, previously acknowledged by Moldovan authorities, took place on September 9. A Moldovan government spokesperson confirmed at the time that Zelenskyy's aircraft departure for Norway was delayed because the country's airspace had to be closed due to a drone alert.

On that day, two Russian drones indeed entered Moldovan airspace.

One drone tragically landed in a field north of the capital, sparking a fire, while the second continued its trajectory into Romanian airspace, a clear violation of sovereign skies. Zelenskyy's new disclosure sheds light on a second, previously unmentioned occurrence.

He stated, “When we came back home, again through Chisinau, again they did the same.” This second incident, according to Moldovan authorities, saw two drones entering their airspace on Monday (September 14, 2026), each for approximately 10 minutes, within an hour before noon local time. While Zelenskyy pondered the intent, saying, “In Moldova, my presidential jet was there and that's why they attacked Moldova, the airspace of Moldova.

Maybe they didn't want to attack me personally...,” the gravity of the situation remains undeniable.

These repeated incursions into Moldovan airspace by Russian drones, especially coinciding with the Ukrainian President's movements, raise significant concerns about regional stability and the deliberate targeting or intimidation of a head of state.
