Shocking Find: Marmoset Monkey Rescued from Laundry Bag on London Bus! ππ
A tiny marmoset monkey, named Oyster, was discovered abandoned in a laundry bag on a London bus! Learn about her dramatic rescue and journey to recovery.
London commuters were left stunned this week after a marmoset monkey was discovered abandoned inside a laundry bag on a public bus. The surprising find, made on the route 302 bus in north-west London, has sparked both outrage and a wave of concern for the tiny primate.
The female marmoset was found by the bus driver when the vehicle arrived at Kensal Rise on Friday morning. The driverβs attention was drawn to a laundry bag blocking the luggage bay, preventing a passenger with a buggy from moving. Upon moving the bag, the driver was met with the unexpected sound of chirping and witnessed the monkey jumping inside.
The RSPCA was immediately alerted to the unusual situation. A spokesperson for the charity revealed that the marmoset was trapped inside a small, metal bird cage, which itself was wrapped within a chequered plastic bag. Heartbreakingly, the monkey was left with only a piece of apple, and was found to be stressed and dehydrated, highlighting the cruel nature of her abandonment.
Following her rescue, the marmoset has been affectionately named Oyster, a nod to London's iconic travel card. She is now safely in the care of animal welfare officers, where she is receiving much-needed attention and treatment. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the irresponsible pet ownership and the challenges faced by exotic animals kept in unsuitable environments.
