The female marmoset was found by the bus driver when the vehicle arrived at Kensal Rise on Friday morning. The driver’s attention was drawn to a laundry bag blocking the luggage bay, preventing a passenger with a buggy from moving. Upon moving the bag, the driver was met with the unexpected sound of chirping and witnessed the monkey jumping inside.
The RSPCA was immediately alerted to the unusual situation. A spokesperson for the charity revealed that the marmoset was trapped inside a small, metal bird cage, which itself was wrapped within a chequered plastic bag. Heartbreakingly, the monkey was left with only a piece of apple, and was found to be stressed and dehydrated, highlighting the cruel nature of her abandonment.
