Bihar Cabinet pledges 1 crore jobs in five years, aims to build global tech hub

After the election win, the newly formed Bihar Cabinet met for the first time and announced a bold plan: to provide one crore jobs to youth over the next five years, alongside broader employment and industrial development. The cabinet said Bihar will be developed as a back-end hub and global workplace over the next five years. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar shared the plan in a social media post: for 2025-2030, the target is to provide jobs and employment to one crore youth. The government notes that during 2020-2025, under the seven resolves, it had already provided government jobs to about 50 lakh youth.

To accelerate growth, the government will promote industries and create maximum employment, and it plans to seek suggestions from leading entrepreneurs connected with Bihar. Plans and policies will be formulated, and a comprehensive action plan prepared with collaboration from key departments, economists and experts to establish Bihar as a global back-end hub and global workplace. After the cabinet meeting, the Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit said that a defence corridor, a semiconductor manufacturing park, global capacity centers, a mega tech city and a fitness city will be established to make Bihar a tech hub of eastern India. He added that dedicated committees are in place to drive these goals.

Officials emphasize that the drive is part of a broader shift to a technology- and service-oriented economy, with agro-industrial revival playing a crucial role. The government frames the push as a core part of the seven resolves, aiming to deliver both job creation and modernization across the state while staying connected with entrepreneurs and industry partners.
