Farhan's World Cup Century Lifts Pakistan Past Namibia into Super Eight
Sahibzada Farhan blazes to a T20 World Cup century against Namibia in Colombo, sparking Pakistan's 102-run win to seal a Super Eight berth.
Colombo witnessed a defining moment for Pakistan as Sahibzada Farhan smashed a deserving T20 World Cup century against Namibia, turning a narrative of struggle into a spectacular milestone. Farhan, who has faced selection challenges and even went unsold in the PSL, answered the skeptics with an unbeaten 100 that anchored Pakistan’s 199/3.
Namibia were bowled out for 97, sealing a commanding 102-run victory and keeping Pakistan on course for the Super Eight. Farhan’s 100 marks him as only the second Pakistani batter to reach a World Cup century, a historical feat for a player who has shown rare grit in white-ball cricket.
A quirky note from his journey: Farhan once made a documentary on hitting sixes off Bumrah, a testament to his multifaceted approach to the game.
Near the end, former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan sparked debate by slamming Farhan’s finish, saying taking a single might have been wiser than going for more; his comments, though, didn’t stop Pakistan from celebrating the win.
With this performance, Pakistan strengthened their position in the tournament’s Super Eight, signaling that Farhan’s breakthrough could be a turning point in their campaign.
