The Tamizhaga Cauvery Vivasayigal Sangam has officially announced a massive protest, declaring their intention to lay siege to the proposed dam site in Karnataka on May 31. P.R. Pandian, the general secretary of the association, shared the details following a recent meeting in Mannargudi. The plan is for a large group of farmers and supporters to begin a march from Thanjavur on May 30. The association has expressed strong frustration over the current situation, holding previous administrative decisions responsible for allowing the Karnataka government to stay firm on its construction plans. The farmers are demanding an immediate withdrawal of the project, fearing it will severely impact their livelihoods and the vital water supply from the Cauvery river that sustains the region's agriculture.

Consultative meetings are being held to ensure that the state's interests are protected, especially as the Karnataka government prepares for the proposed bhoomi pooja for the dam.
