Threeasfour Returns: A Kaleidoscope of Denim & Futurism on the Runway!

After a five-year hiatus from the runway, the iconic indie label Threeasfour made a spectacular return with their Spring 2027 Ready-to-Wear collection. The trio, Adi Gil, Angela Donhauser, and Gabriel Asfour, unveiled a dazzling 50-look show at Mana Contemporary in New Jersey, marking a significant moment in their brand's journey.
This comeback was not just a fashion show; it was also a preview of Sean Ono Lennon's documentary, "Threeasfour: Full Circle," set to hit theaters this fall. As Gabriel Asfour explained,
Together, the film and the collection create a moment of reflection on our history while opening a new chapter for the brand.
The event culminated in a party and the screening, celebrating their enduring influence and innovative spirit.
A major highlight of their new collection is the official launch of their denim line, with several styles already available for pre-order. Threeasfour views denim as "the uniform of humanity," a material they've explored in past collections but now aim to expand their reach with, given its global ubiquity.
This focus aligns with their core value of material circularity, evident in their reimagining of archive pieces using indigo-dyed cotton and even incorporating vintage pairs of jeans.
The runway showcased a breathtaking blend of artistry and innovation. Models sported striking geometric structures like tetrahedron and icosahedron cells, some even lighting up, alongside futuristic bubble helmets. A 3D-printed dress resembled a butterfly wing, while a Möbius dress seemed ready for flight.
Other standout pieces included a "frozen cloud puffer in denim potpourri" and designs playing with color variegation and washes. The artisanship was undeniable, from hand-bleaching to quilted "topographic" designs, including an "Eternity dress" crafted from repurposed vintage Levi's seams.
Their new denim line features "archetypes" like trenches, tops, jackets, and uniquely cut boot-cut (Charro) and elephant-leg (Ganesha) jeans. The brand's spiral-cut technique for jeans is particularly noteworthy:
Each leg is cut from a single pattern piece, joined through a continuous seam that begins at the back crotch, travels through the knee, and ends at the front hem—creating a clean, elongating line along the leg.
Adding to their innovative design, the jeans are also reversible, a detail stressed by Gil after the show.
Threeasfour has always championed a "we are the world" ethos, often referring to themselves as the "United Nations of Fashion." Their diverse backgrounds—Asfour born in Lebanon to Palestinian parents, Donhauser Russian, Gil Israeli—converged in New York City, where they became ambassadors of the downtown art and fashion scene. Despite the digital age's flattening trends, Threeasfour continues to defy categorization, seeking to connect with a broader audience while maintaining their distinct, "kaleidoscopic" point of view.
