Shiv Sena Ministers Skip Maha Cabinet After BJP Inducts 4 Ex-Corporators

In Maharashtra, a Cabinet meeting at the state secretariat drew attention for what happened outside the hall, as a group of Shiv Sena ministers chose not to enter the cabinet chamber. The ministers remained at the secretariat while the rest of the team proceeded with the session, later raising the issue of the induction of four former corporators into the BJP with the chief minister. The move signals palpable strain within the ruling alliance as power dynamics shift on the ground.

One Sena minister, Pratap Sarnaik, voiced concerns that alliance rules were not being followed, saying the induction had to be addressed. He indicated that the matter would be corrected at the ground level, hinting at ongoing negotiations within the coalition.

On the other side, BJP leader and minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule stated that his party would not take rival workers and acknowledged that there might be some anger over the development. He noted that several BJP ministers were busy with local elections, and eight BJP ministers were also absent from the Cabinet meeting, clarifying there was no official boycott.

Meanwhile, Sena (UBT) leader Sushama Andhare suggested the BJP could try to use Shinde to sideline him politically, underscoring the fragile balance within the alliance and the internal rifts that have persisted since last year’s polls.

There was also a remark from Ajit Pawar, who downplayed any sign of disgruntlement, saying he did not sense any significant unease over the developments. The episode underscores how coalition partners in Maharashtra are navigating leadership ambitions and strategic moves as they work to keep governance on track.
