Kochi Crackdown: 6 More Suspected Illegal Nationals Arrested!

The Hill Palace police in Thripunithura have apprehended six suspected Bangladeshi nationals who were allegedly residing illegally in Eroor, Kochi, Kerala. The arrests were made on Thursday from a scrap dealer’s shop at Karukappadom Road near Eroor, following a confidential tip-off, an officer confirmed on Friday. Police stated that the individuals had been employed at the shop for some time.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Rakiv Shaba, 24, Muhammad Sohal Faraz, 33, Tarek Abdul Monnan, 21, Sogir, 18, Maidhi Hazida, 32, and Muhammad Agin, 39. Authorities revealed that the identity cards and other documents recovered from these individuals were found to be forged. They now face serious charges under Section 21 of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, for entering or remaining in India without the necessary travel documents, and under Sections 336(2) and 340(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for forgery.
A detailed investigation will be launched to ascertain how the accused managed to reach Kerala and who might have facilitated their travel and illegal stay. The arrested persons are scheduled to be produced before a court on Friday afternoon.
These latest arrests by the Hill Palace police are part of a broader crackdown in the region. They follow closely after the Kuruppampady police, within Ernakulam rural limits, apprehended another suspected Bangladeshi national. This individual was allegedly staying in Asamannur, Kothamangalam, and working at a plywood factory. Earlier in the same month, the Palarivattom police had also arrested ten suspected Bangladeshi nationals for residing in the city without valid documentation, highlighting an ongoing effort by Kerala police to address illegal immigration.
