Karnataka Congress Chiefs Reconcile After Breakfast Meeting

In Bengaluru, Karnataka, chief minister Siddaramaiah and deputy chief minister D K Shivakumar sat down for breakfast at the former’s residence, signaling an effort to end rumors of a rift within the Congress ahead of the Assembly session in Belagavi. Both men said they would follow directives from the party high command and work as a unified team. They stressed that there is no confusion and that the arrangement would be conveyed to the national leadership.
Siddaramaiah explained that the breakfast meeting happened at his home after a suggestion from a senior party leader, with Venugopal guiding the process and A S Ponnanna inviting Shivakumar to join. Shivakumar had earlier invited Siddaramaiah for a meal, and the pair met over breakfast to reaffirm the leadership’s directions.
They addressed speculation surrounding some legislators visiting Delhi in relation to cabinet reshuffle discussions, saying such trips should not be read as signs of disunity. The leaders underscored that the arrangement would be communicated to the high command ahead of the crucial Belagavi Assembly session, signaling an intention to set disputes aside before the legislative proceedings.
The show of unity comes as Karnataka politics has been roiled by tensions between rival factions within the Congress. By reiterating adherence to the national leadership and presenting a united front, Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar are positioning themselves to navigate the party’s internal dynamics as the Assembly session looms.
