Traffic diversion in Katpadi for bull race on March 5
Authorities announce a 6am-3pm traffic diversion in Katpadi, Vellore, for a bull race festival as part of a temple celebration. Detours will affect NH 48 and nearby streets, with specific route changes.
Traffic will be diverted on key stretches, including Chennai - Bengaluru Highway (NH 48), in Old Katpadi area in Vellore on Thursday due to a bull race event in the area. The diversion is intended to keep traffic flowing smoothly around the temple festival and the bull race activities.
As per the plan, vehicles will not be allowed between Chittoor bus stand and Brahmapuram Road. Instead, all vehicles (excluding trucks) should use Odai Pillaiyar Koil Street, Auxilium College Road junction, Puthu Koil Street, V.G. Rao Nagar to reach areas like Brahmapuram and surrounding villages. This detour aims to prevent congestion along the main routes while allowing festival-related movements.
Vehicles coming from Brahm apuram should only use the diverted route to reach Katpadi railway station and Chittoor bus stand. For those traveling toward Tiruvalam from Chittoor, detours via Vallimalai Main Road and Sekkadu Road are prescribed. The traffic diversion will be in place between 6 a.m and 3 p.m on the day.
Educational institutions in the area are advised to plan accordingly to ensure safe transport of students during the event. Motorists are urged to follow posted signs and allow extra travel time.
