BJP launches Jan Ashirwad Yatra in Assam ahead of assembly polls

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday launched the statewide outreach programme Jan Ashirwad Yatra in Assam ahead of the assembly polls. Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched the yatra’s first phase from Dhekiajuli’s Gupteshwar Temple. He emphasized that the campaign would not only highlight the government’s achievements but also invite direct feedback from people at the grassroots level. Sarma noted that the party plans to go to both rural and urban areas to ensure a wide reach as voters evaluate the work done in infrastructure, healthcare, education, employment, and social welfare schemes. The move also aims to address Assam’s cultural identity and demographic balance as part of the outreach strategy. To engage younger voters, a social media initiative titled Reel on Development has been planned, complementing on-ground events with digital conversations.

The yatra is scheduled to cover more than 400 km across important assembly constituencies and is expected to connect with around 100,000 people daily through public meetings, roadshows, and community interactions. It will pause on March 3 and 4 due to the Doul Utsav festival and from March 10 to March 15 because of key government programmes, including the disbursement of Orunodoi funds. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Assam, and a BJP youth conference will be held in Guwahati. After resuming in mid-March, the campaign will resume its push across the state, continuing to foreground the developmental and welfare initiatives of the Union and state governments. The campaign’s core message remains straightforward: deliver on promises, listen to concerns, and reinforce the BJP’s track record ahead of the elections.
