It's wild to see so many independent bookstores, and even big chains like Barnes & Noble, absolutely thriving and opening new locations all over the place! We're talking hundreds of new stores in just a few years. Yet, at the same time, national reading scores for high schoolers are at their lowest point in decades, with a huge chunk scoring below basic proficiency.
