Is anyone else feeling weirdly existential seeing our childhood icons literally aging alongside us? Seeing Woody with a bald spot and a beer gut in the new footage is honestly too much for my millennial heart to handle. I get that they want to make these characters relatable to the parents who grew up with them, but can’t we just let toys be timeless? On top of that, the whole plot about smart tablets and tech gadgets making physical toys obsolete feels like a personal attack on 90s kids. I miss when playtime was just imagination, not fighting for attention against a high-tech frog tablet. It feels like the magic is being replaced by midlife crises and screens.
