Homework has officially entered its "Candy Crush" era, and I’m not sure how to feel about it. Remember when school meant heavy textbooks and endless worksheets? Now, kids are "grinding" for XP and unlocking digital skins just to finish their math problems. These apps are designed with the same psychological hooks as mobile games - flashy lights, streaks, and leaderboards. While it definitely makes getting them to sit down easier, are they actually absorbing the material or just pavlovian-responding to the next reward? We’re basically gamifying the entire childhood experience. If education is just another app competing for screen time, are we teaching them to love learning or just to crave that next dopamine hit?
