It's completely unacceptable that 51 anganwadis in Ernakulam are still operating without fitness certificates months after the academic year started! Authorities are blaming the delay on the "non-availability of assistant engineers" due to routine transfers, but how is administrative red tape a valid excuse when little kids' safety is on the line? Most of these neglected centres are in the Palluruthy region. The lack of proper infrastructure oversight is terrifying. Just recently, a literal cobra was found inside an almirah at an anganwadi in Karumaloor panchayat because of a broken window! While they’ve patched up the window and cleared the bushes now, it shouldn't take a close call with a venomous snake to fix basic safety issues. Plus, around 600 anganwadis are running out of rented or free spaces because the uniform rent fixed by the government makes it impossible to find decent, safe buildings in urban spots like Kochi. We are trusting these places with toddlers. Proper buildings and timely safety inspections shouldn't be too much to ask! #education #safety #infrastructure
