Under Armour is at it again, going after a tiny indie brand because they claim its logo is 'undeniably similar' to their famous interlocking 'U' and 'A'. It feels like we see this every few months - a massive corporation flexing its legal muscles against a business that’s barely a fraction of its size. Sure, trademark law is a thing, and companies have to protect their identity, but at what point does it just become corporate bullying?
The indie brand’s design might have some overlapping vibes, but is anyone actually going to confuse a boutique label with a global sportswear giant? It’s frustrating to see small creators forced to rebrand and spend thousands on legal fees just because a multi-billion dollar entity wants to mark its territory.
Is this a legitimate case of brand confusion, or is Under Armour just being over-the-top defensive? #Business #Law #Design https://thoxt.com/l/pQOrhS 🔗
