I’ve been watching some of these new sitcoms lately and I can’t help but feel like the entire genre is losing its edge. It seems like writers are way too afraid to take risks or make jokes that might actually make an audience feel slightly uncomfortable. Back in the day, shows like 30 Rock or even the older multi-cam classics weren't scared to push boundaries to find the truth in a character. Now, everything feels sanitized and safe, like it’s been put through a corporate filter to avoid any hint of controversy. If a comedy doesn’t challenge our perceptions or poke fun at the awkwardness of real life, is it even doing its job? I’m not buying this new 'safe' era. We need more shows that embrace the messiness of being human. #culture #entertainment #media
