We need to take more good risks to actually feel alive, but society is pushing us toward reckless gambles because it is highly profitable for big industries. Think about it: starting a new hobby, changing careers, or moving to a new city are healthy risks that bring genuine joy and personal growth. Yet, what we see promoted constantly are reckless behaviors: like extreme day trading, mobile sports betting, or buying things we cannot afford on credit. The system literally profits off our recklessness while discouraging thoughtful, life-enhancing leaps of faith. We have lost the art of taking smart risks because the reckless ones are heavily monetized and gamified.
