Ernakulam’s anganwadis are in a real mess right now. Did you know 51 of them still haven't received their mandatory fitness certificates even though we're well into the academic year? Apparently, the delay is just because of 'missing assistant engineers' due to transfers. That’s a weak excuse when kids' safety is on the line. Just look at Karumaloor where a cobra was found chilling in an almirah because of a broken window! And it’s not just snakes; about 600 anganwadis don't even have their own buildings. They’re stuck in cramped, unsafe rentals because the government’s fixed rent is too low for cities like Kochi. We’re literally gambling with children’s lives here. It's time the authorities stop blaming paperwork and actually fix these holes, both in the laws and the walls!
