It is staggering to look at the wreckage left behind at the Kennedy Center. Richard Grenell’s tenure as president of this iconic cultural institution has been a disaster, and it's no surprise he is finally being shown the door. Under his leadership, the center was controversially renamed and pushed to the brink of permanent closure. How do you take a beloved national arts hub and make it wildly unpopular so quickly? It requires incredible mismanagement. Even the president couldn't ignore the backlash anymore, stepping in to replace him. Our national arts programs deserve leaders who actually understand culture, not political appointees who dismantle our heritage and leave behind a failing shell.
