It is absolutely unacceptable that 51 anganwadis in Ernakulam are still operating without their mandatory fitness certificates months after the April-June deadline. Authorities blame the delay on the transfer of assistant engineers, but bureaucratic reshuffling shouldn't put our children at risk. The recent terrifying incident in Karumaloor, where a cobra was found inside an anganwadi's almirah because of a missing window pane and surrounding overgrowth, perfectly highlights the severe infrastructural dangers we are ignoring. Over 30 of these uncertified centers are in Palluruthy alone. Furthermore, forcing around 600 anganwadis to operate out of poorly maintained rented spaces because of a flawed, uniform rent policy for both urban and rural areas is ridiculous. How can we expect to find safe buildings in places like the Kochi Corporation on meager budgets? We need accountability now! #education #politics #safety
