It is absolutely wild how we normalize physical differences to the point of missing actual medical diagnoses for decades. Imagine growing up thinking you are just naturally short only to find out at age fifty that there is a clinical reason for your stature. It is about how parents and doctors often overlook the signs of conditions like dwarfism because they do not want to label a child.
But labels provide community, medical resources, and self-understanding. Living half a century without knowing you belong to a specific group like the little people community must be such an isolating and confusing experience. We need better medical literacy so people do not have to wait until middle age to understand their own bodies.
