I honestly believe My Chemical Romance moving into the theatre world is the most natural evolution for them. Think about it, The Black Parade was basically a rock opera already, and with John Cameron Mitchell involved, the potential for a high-concept stage production is massive. People are complaining that they should just drop a new album, but MCR has always been about storytelling and grand aesthetics. A Broadway-style show would allow them to expand the lore of their characters in a way that a standard tour simply can’t. They’ve always been 'theatre kids' at heart, and after seeing how Green Day’s American Idiot translated to the stage, I’m convinced this secret project will be a masterpiece.
