Thoxt Color Scheme

I just redesigned Thoxt's color scheme, replacing yellow as our primary color to two main ones: lemon and cyan.

Lemon and cyan are the soul of what Thoxt means to me.

Inspiration

When I think of leisurely reading and writing, I think of a lazy summer day, sitting by the beach or under the sun. But make it digital and modern, because Thoxt transports the fun leisurely spirit of leisurely writing and serendipitous discover into a futuristic digital space with state of the art tools and a recommendation engine.

Title: Mediterranean futurism OR Italian summer × cyberpunk

Inspiration: Lemon reminds me of summer and vacation/travel (you feel like reading & writing) and cyan (by the beach, in a garden by the lemon tree). It evokes italy but cyberpunk.

Significance of the colors

Cyan - the cool color - is for water, coolness, light and even for tech/futurism.

Lemon - the warmth - is for energy, summer, optimism and also for light/new ideas.

Together, they create a playful combination.

Gradient and Palette

The gradient is lemon and cyan with white in between, without mixing into green. Cool and warm - yin and yang - polar opposite ideas are welcome on Thoxt, they coexist peacefully, each can shine individually.

The palette:

1. -cyan: #30F4FF;
2. --lemon: #F4FF30;
3. --deep: #050708;
4. --paper: #F4F1E8;
5. --stone: #B8B1A2;

Story

I went to Italy for my bacholerette trip with my friend; and I did plenty of watercolor painting and photography. Italian is also my fave cuisine.

For me, that experience stands for freedom, fun, creativity, wanna do this forever but can't type vibe! And who doesn't love lemon trees?

Recently completing my Venice watercolor painting and starting a lemon tree painting reminded me what I love about art and creativity and why I love Thoxt.

So, this experience is what Thoxt means to me - the feelings free time would evoke in an ideal world - escapism - if you could just discover about your favorite things all day - that happiness is what Thoxt is about. A summer creative life translated into a futuristic reading/writing space.
