The West Bengal Special Task Force (STF) has made another significant arrest in an ongoing probe into an alleged espionage network. On Monday, August 3, 2026, Aditya Singh, also known as Raj or Raju, was apprehended from Belilious Road in Howrah. He is suspected to be an associate of the alleged Jaish-e-Mohammed operative Hamim Mondal.
This arrest comes on the heels of crucial leads obtained during the interrogation of Mondal and his alleged associate, Arpita Sarkar. A senior STF officer confirmed that the apprehension was based on specific information unearthed during the investigation, though further details about the wider network remain under wraps as the probe continues.
Investigators believe that Aditya Singh initially came into contact with Hamim Mondal through an online gaming platform. It is suspected that this online connection subsequently led to Singh's involvement in the alleged conspiracy. Authorities further allege that Singh was tasked with collecting sensitive information related to Minister of State for Urban Development, Umesh Rai, and his son, which he then reportedly shared with the other accused.
